Vintage 1924 Ball Watch Co. Official Railroad Pocket Watch Grade 999P
The Ball Watch Co. Model 1, made by Hamilton, is a rare bird and a really good looking one. Ball standards for their movements were very high. Expect to see great finishing and amazing decoration on this 999P movement. The circular Cotes de Geneva it amazing too look at and extremely well done. The movement is clean and has recently been serviced. At the time of this listing this Ball Railroad Standard pocket watch is performing excellent with achieving modern chronometer specs and high altitude. The size 16s boasts features such as 21 jewels, sapphire pallets, gold set screwed in jewels, gold center wheel, adjusted in 5 positions & for temperature and micro regulation, to name a few. The dial, perfect. I cannot see anything wrong with it other than some microscopic age spots on the white porcelain dial, you'll never see them with the naked eye. The original Ball case by Keystone is 10k yellow gold filled made by high standards, which speaks to the case's excellent condition. There is little wear showing, the only small flaw with the case is a tiny pin-point dent on the reverse of the case, which has no personal engravings. To sum up condition, there are very few you might find in better condition. These are highly regarded by collectors and watchmakers and in my opinion, one of the top 3 railroad pocket watches made during the era, and there were a lot. Railroad collectors will love this watch if you don't have a Ball already, the history of the company changed the landscape of official railroad timekeeping. Needless to say, my point is, this is a prized watch to own and will last many more generations with proper care.
