Having an appraisal when it comes to facing a loss is of utmost importance to protect your fine investment.

Many insurance companies, even when you have an item scheduled on your policy, will value something like a fine or rare vintage wrist or ​pocket watch without any research of what it is actually worth.  Then begins the fight; you spend hours and hours finding comps and information to provide to your insurance company only to be asked "is this the same watch?" and "Do you have an appraisal?"  The job of the insurance company to to protect their finances; your job should be to protect yours and we can help make that happen.

Here's how it works. 
So, you're going to need to spend some money and put some effort into this process; however it's not as bad as you think.  You will fill out the form below, purchase the service that best fits your needs and ship your item(s) to us - we do all the rest.  Below are the options to appraise a single piece and to appraise more than one.  You save significantly when choosing to appraise more than one watch.

  • We do not appraise watches from overseas; only watches located within the USA and its territories.
  • We are recognised as an expert appraisal firm by a wide range of insurance companies.  Check with your insurance company if you need verification.
  • You pay all expenses for shipping both to and from our location which will be provided via email once purchase is complete.  Shipping must be by USPS or UPS with signature and tracking required.  We are not responsible for any loss or damage during shipping and shipping insurance is optional.  We will generate a firm return shipping cost and invoice you once your appraisal(s) are complete and return the appraisal(s) with your watch(s) via UPS 2-day express mail.
  • Yes, our prices are very reasonable.  Many appraisers of fine watches charge by the hour and this can get very expensive as research ensues and you have no control over how fast a person works.  This is why we provide value in flat rate pricing with a significant savings over one piece.
  • We are more educated and have more resources than most local jewelers.  Since watches are all we do day in and day out, we have the experience and resources necessary to get it right or your money will be refunded.  
  • We do not refund money if you are unhappy with your appraisal results since the service has been already rendered; however, we will immediately refund the cost of an appraisal if we are unable to appraise the watch - we will also provide you a shipping discount equal to the cost by weight of that watch if we are unable to appraise it for any reason; or if a single watch we will provide a 50% shipping discount.
  • Appraisals are factual and unbiased; however, it is important to note that condition is subjective.  We use a 1-10 scale on condition according to watch dealer standards and make every attempt to be accurate.
  • All sales are final once work has commenced.  
  • All watches, while in our possession, are stored off site in a secure location under protection.  AdamVintage is insured and will take any and all responsibility for loss while watches for appraisal are in our possession; excluding acts of God, war, terrorism, or other unusual events.  
  • Many ask, how much time does this take?  This is a tough question; as we work efficiently as possible, we also take pride in being correct.  Some research can take hours for one piece alone.  If you need an ETA, please contact us once your shipment is received by AdamVintage and we will provide you with an estimate.
  • We do not actually provide appraisals on scrolls - the photos in the purchase order are for artistic purposes only.  Appraisals are provided on high grade 8.5"x11" white paper and/or by PDF upon request at no additional charge.

Appraisal of One or More Wristwatch or Pocket Watch(s)

Appraisal of a single watch (wrist or pocket) entails and will include a factual unbiased description of the watch, any special details of rarity or provenance, at least three photos and replacement value.  Details of the watch include known technical details, make, model, condition and rarity scale of 1-10.  This will be provided on an official document and validated with our seal of physical inspection. (Insurance companies do not accept online quotes or online appraisals in which the watch was not physically inspected.  We expertly appraise vintage (1990 and earlier) wrist or pocket watches.  We do not appraise jewelry.   Cost for additional pieces to be appraised at the same time is $40.  Please call Adam at 413.219.1104 for more than 10 appraisals.
