SOLD - Vintage 1913 Burlington Chronometer Grade Pocket Watch with a Rare Stunning Movement
This is a 14k yellow / rose gold filled Burlington chronometer grade and qualifies to be a railroad watch by many rails in its day. If you do not already know, Burlington did not make their own watches - but the really great news is the partnership they had was with Illinois Watch Co. Burlington was a strong brand, one of the first to use an outsource business strategy which removes R&D and most manufacturing costs. That enabled Burlington, whom had a very strong brand in their region, was able to offer a great value proposition. Superior watches at less the price tag of a manufacturer watch, a business strategy that we see in modern times. This watch is outstanding in so many ways that I'm tempted to keep it, We'll see, if you can add it to your shopping cart it's available. The photos say a lot about how beautiful this mens size 16s with 19 jewel and adjusted for temperature and in at least 3 positions. The movement may not have the highest jewel count at 19 (still high), but what it lacks in technical bragging, it earns Five Stars on just about everything. The movements design is striking, unusual and very sought after; easily capable of modern chronometer standards like it does at the time of this listing. I can continue to go on about the movement, but let's just say it's one of the best. I love the full Montgomery porcelain dial that is near perfect except for a very faint hairline that I can barely see if I look for it. Otherwise, the dial is amazing and helps make this piece a great investment. Last but not least, is the case. The classic design with a smooth bezel looks so clean; but clean isn't the reason I love this case. The factory engraving on the reverse is amazing - extremely well done with little wear. This watch is a no brainer must have in any serious collection or for an amazing gift. I can't promise I'll keep it listed too long...honestly I've been looking for a watch like this that hits all the important elements of an excellent American made pocket watch. This lever set beauty was just serviced July 2018 and is running strong and keeping excellent time.
