I broke the golden rule...this watch contains a battery, the only one on the site, so far. No, this doesn't mean I'll be doing this often, this watch was an exception. This case and the dial are a spectacular display of 1970's style. Caravelle by Bulova was a lower-shelf brand giving economy customers more than good quality at affordable prices. Bulova watches were usually fitted with in-house Swiss or US movements whereas most Caravelle watches were fitted with Citizen movements. Both companies had a trade relationship since the late 1950's as Japan was a low-cost labour country in those days, and Citizen was a quality watch manufacturer. The cooperation must have been successful as it was expanded by establishing a joint-venture Bulova Citizen Watch Company in 1972. And it's no surprise that Bulova was completely acquired by Citizen.
This watch has a very rare "Rolex green" dial, it's lighter than shown in the photos. It's working very well and has almost no wear with all original factory finishing. There are some minor scratches on the original crystal. It's almost impossible to find this particular model, I think there are two floating around out there that I could find, but not for sale. The watch comes on a used vintage black leather strap as found. The case, which is not perfectly square measures approximately 40mm from lug to lug and 38mm wide not including the crown. This is a high end battery operated movement with 12 jewels, sweep seconds and hacking, which is more a matter of saving battery life. Thank you.
