Hamilton Whitney Watch ca. 1934-1935 Very Rare American Deco Watch
This is one of the best looking deco dress watches ever made - it's too bad they made so few of them (a little over 4,000 which is nothing). I've had this watch in research for about a month until I could determine if the dial and hand configuration was possible; and it turns out it is. The dial is original; the numerals where originally a luminous paint, the dial has been re-painted at some time in the past to a black color. The watch has a rarer gothic style hands, frequently used in the era but not often found on this watch. You do see these hands form time-to-time on the yellow gold filled version; although there is only a few examples out there. Top things off with a late production 987-E. This is likely one of the last pieces made - there are very few noted with an 987-E. The Hamilton Whitney is one of the most difficult Hamilton watches to find, in any known configuration. This is a fantastic estate find from White Plains NY and I am very happy to have found this watch. We are offering it as an extremely reasonable price due to our pricing method based strictly on margin. This is why we some great watches; some very rare watches, at a low price, just like this rare Whitney. The case measures 36mm long and 30mm wide - it is a decent size for an average wrist in the vintage dress category .
