Vintage 1940's WWII Military Style Watch by Ernest Borel Exotic Chocolate Brown Dial

Here is a great piece of History. First off, Ernest Borel was a rare breed in sports or military watches during this time & they were a micro brand. Something tells me there are not many of these around. Here is a great article about the brand. The watch contains a very clean well finished and decorated manual wind movement with 15 jewels. A oddly high grade movement for a sports / military piece; some gold set jewels, a gold center gear, beveled edges and Geneva stripes. It is also complete with its original dust cover, which is often missing. The original dial is great and has patina to a chocolate brown color fairly evenly. The crown and crystal are also original. Please note there is a small edge crack on the original crystal. We decided to leave it alone because it doesn't appear to go through, is on the edge and not much noticed, and it's the original. If your intention is to wear the watch and you do not care that the crystal is original, I would have it replaced. We will do so at no additional cost and will be an option at checkout. The piece is on the smaller size with approximately 30mm in diameter and 16mm in between the lugs. This could easily be worn by a man or woman, or placed in an important military watch collection. The full stainless steel Brevet case is in great shape and retains its original factory finish and has no notable problems. The watch was found on its original strap which was in poor condition. We are offering this watch without a strap or your option of a strap when ordering. We just serviced the watch and it is running great and keeping good time.
