This is really a collectors piece for those that like to have one-of-a-kind pieces. This watch is one of those. I have never seen a case made like this and so well. Look at the application and execution of the applied gold, which by the date of this watch I imagine was molten mold on the case, it is completely integrated. It's also a heavy solid piece evident by the very deep engraving. This case just makes the entire watch. The nautical theme is not often found either. Based on others of this movement I've seen, this is ca. late 1800's to very early 1900's. The watch is pin set and works great, but it is in the shop now for a service as of May 23rd, so if you purchase, you will have to wait at least 15 days for the service to be complete. But, you will have a freshly serviced watch as of the end of May-early June. The case size is 35mm across and 45mm including the winding crown. Let's talk about this Swiss movement by Gallet. These are extremely robust movements capable of obtaining chronometer standards. The dial is near perfect. It has a slight faint line, but it's blue if you look at under magnification, and it's my opinion it is just a mark and not a hairline. Either way, the dial present beautifully and is a great match for the case. Whomever designed this was years ahead of his/her time - this is a great pocket watch. Bye the way, ladies and gent pay attention, wearing ladies pocket watched around your neck as jewelry is high fashion these days; and some exclusive designers have their own line; but they don't accomplish anything like this.
