Waltham was a major player in the railroad watch market during this era and was known for their ability to produce high quality railroad pocket watches with very large production numbers, similar to Elgin.  Just turning 100 years of age, this Waltham Grade 645 size 16s is a very tough to find model with only just over 59,000 total produced.  You may say, Adam...that a lot of watches; but it is not, as many total movement productions of some of the most popular and high priced railroad watches were well over 100,000.  This piece has a beautiful bright original white porcelain dial with no flaws noted, fired blued steel hands and a very attractive case with brillant engraving.  The lever set 21 jewel movement is just serviced and keeping great time; it's of high quality with gold set screwed down jewels, gold wheels, micro adjustment system and very nice plates and bridges.  There are no personal engravings on this watch.  In near mint condition, you cannot go wrong with this low production railroad timekeeper.
