Vintage 1967 Bulova Caravelle Military Style Watch 17 Jewel Caliber 11DP (Japan Citizens 0241) with Parashock
Caravelle, by Bulova, played an important role in watchmaking history. Caravelle was a high quality price accessible watch for consumers that preferred mechanical wind watches during the quartz crisis. You see, mechanical watches made during this period were scarce and usually only made by the upper echelon of watchmakers therefore most were too expensive for the average consumer. Caravelle, conceived by Bulova, filled that gap with a better than average grade watch containing a 17 Jewel proven Japanese caliber. This caravelle is one of the nicest I've seen; I think the flared lugs on the case design makes a big difference and the dial is awesome. It appears nearly new old stock and has a stunning pitch black dial with great patina on the painted lume numerals. The case is well made will a solid stainless steel case back and chrome bezel with no wear. The period hide leather cuff strap is amazing and really goes great with this watch and has little wear. In fact, it transforms this watch to a whole new level in my opinion. Will fit nicely up to an 8" wrist. The watch was serviced March 2018 and is keeping time better than most serviced Swiss counterparts...which means it's keeping excellent time. This is a very wearable, reliable and budget friendly vintage watch that will last generations if properly cared for.
