This is a fantastic and rare British Military Issue American made Waltham pocket watch. During both WWI and WWII, our British allies sometimes needed help procuring the number of military watches needed for the war. It was more prevalent in WWI than WWII, that US manufacturers were able the offer this assistance. In WWII nearly all American watch manufacturers were primarily producing military watches to fulfill US military orders; and from what research I found, it was only by the approval of the US Government that American manufacturers were allowed to produce allied watches. This Waltham Pocket watch Keystone caseback is properly hallmarked with the British military broad arrow clearly identifying the provenance. Not commonly found, this watch would make a great gift or personal purchase to start or add to a collection of military watches of significance...and at a very reasonable price I might add. The watch is serviced July 2018 and we also replaced the mainspring. Please note that there is aging and some lume worn off the black enameled dial. This is common for tritium lume; but the trade-off is a wonderful even patina. The original crystal has many small nicks on the side; who cares, these are war scares. The overall condition is considered excellent based on other few examples that exist. Thank you.
