The Election Watch Co. was a high grade micro manufacturer with its roots dating back to the US civil war. This particular piece is very hard to find with this movement and color combination. The beautiful, well preserved with awesome tritium patina panda dial is a sight to see. The lume numerals and lume on the steel fire blued hands are evenly aged and look just fantastic with this dial like no other I've seen. The dial does have a few slight age marks on it see pictures; however, it is our opinion these are minor and do not distract the eye nor devalues the watch in any way. The dial is original with no evidence of ever being refinished. Election was a true manufacturer and made their own movements. Here we have the caliber 625S, it is listed in the Pink Pages as a 15 jewel manual wind with 3 adjustments. Now, if you're not aware of this common practice back in this era, Swiss watches were taxed much more if the movement was marked with adjustments instead of saying unadjusted. This is an American WWII era market watch; the cal 625S is adj 3 times although not marked on the watch movement to reduce import taxes to the USA. Also, this is a 17 jeweled movement, not a 15 jewel. This is a rare iteration of this movement and it is speculated that the 17 jewel movement of the 625S was for the American market only, in which very little were imported. To Americans in this era and even now, jewel count was very important with 17 being a solid number for this type of watch, hence the company catering to the demand. A couple other great things about this watch is that we have a full stainless steel case, so you do not have to worry about brassing; and it has just been serviced and performing very well. The red sweep seconds adds another nice touch to the overall appearance of the piece. This watch is presented on a new two piece black canvas strap with buckle.
