The design on the bar surfaces makes this piece seem like a deco era chain; and perhaps it is; however, it's clasp system and weighvier weight says perhaps the late 1800's. Being unmarked, it is assumed gold filled; it is quite heavy, it appears the links and bars are all solid, making it heavier than the cheaper sheet metal molded ones. This one is jewelers grade; a term used to distinguish what may be found at the jewels or at Sears & Roebuck.
