This beautiful tank is a classic Longines design vintage 1950s. In solid 14k gold, this tank style wristwatch has a nice heavy weight due to its gold content. During the 1940s and 1950s, Longines was known as a very high quality and expensive watch brand. It is evident that Longines took great care in the production of their movements. The caliber 9LT which powers this piece is in great shape - you wouldn't know it is over 60 years old. In fact, these vintage Longines watches will last generations with proper care. The Longines tank featured here is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is original and fairly free of any major blemishes. The case shows less than average wear for the vintage of the piece. The watch is engraved on the case back "H.H. Drake In Recognition of 25 Years Service J.C.P. & L. Co." The engraving is very shallow and may be polished off by a jeweler if that is preferred; however, we think engraved casebacks add historical value to the piece. Overall, this watch is in very good condition. Suitable for fine casual, business or formal attire, this Longines tank is a well rounded choice for a fine vintage dress watch.
