I was first very interested in this watch because of its extreme scarcity. Among rare Hamilton watches the Dunkirk is at the top of the list. Yes, we like to curate rare watches, but this is not just a rare watch. The Hamilton Dunkirk is a stunning watch with a unusual designed stepped case, recessed crown and long lugs with lug holes positioned so that the strap sits tightly against the case edges. Being such a fine and rare piece, we've outfitted the Dunkirk with a new high-end dark brown American Crocodile strap by Hadley-Roma; a $65 strap. This Dunkirk features an original untouched silver dial with applied 14k gold numerals. Original gold dagger hands and a crisp black chapter ring rounds out this beautiful rare tank. The Dunkirk in powered by Hamilton's caliber 982 manual wind movement, known for its reliability, durability and superior craftsmanship. This movement has been serviced and keeping good time. The condition of the watch is excellent. There are minor age marks noted on the dial, minor surface swirls on the case, the case-back is not engraved (even rarer) and has an area were a sticker was placed for a long time causing a discoloration. Surface discoloration on gold can be lightly polished off if you wish. However, I would not recommend it since the case finish is crisp and factory original. The watch has no notable dings or case problems, in fact there is very little wear on the watch. Overall, this is one of the few examples found of the Dunkirk and it is in excellent original condition. Can't ask for more than that. Thank you.
