Railroad watches are in high demand, especially those that have certain characteristics, such as condition and case rarity.  This particular Hamilton 940 is encased in a very nice looking triple hinged Philadelphia yellow gold filled case of high quality.  This rarer case style features a nice tightly triple hinged case, coined edging, and dust cover.  The grade 940 21 jewel movement, is super clean, nicely decorated and features some of the highest quality in craftsmanship such at screwed down gold set jewels, micro-regulation and damaskeening.  The dial is clean with no hairlines or cracks.  The dial is a beautiful Montgomery style dial.  There are no personal engravings on this piece.  Although there is no brassing noted, the most wear is on the back cover; there is very little wear on the rest on the piece.  The watch has been serviced and is keeping excellent time.  Thank you for looking at this great piece with American history and of course, American made in Lancaster, PA.
