Hamilton Gordon Solid 18k Gold NO ENGRAVINGS late issue 1950's Very Rare Model
Up for sale in beautiful condition is a gentleman's vintage solid 18k yellow gold Hamilton "Gordon" model wristwatch from the 1950's. The Hamilton Gordon is one of the rarest Hamilton Watches produced; as Hamilton manufactured watches in 18k gold cases in very small numbers. The second observation which makes this particular Gordon more desirable than others is the use of the 982 M, Hamilton's best and most expensive movement. Other earlier models of the Gordon did not have this movement and many collectors hold out to try to find one with the 982 M. This is why you will find some price variant in market value. The solid 18k gold Hamilton case which measures 37mm lug to lug and 22mm wide not counting the crown is in nice condition showing very light use. The dial is perfect with18k gold applied indices and dagger hands along. The case which has been professionally polished to its original appeal. The Hamilton tu-tone dial looks in near perfect condition as you can see from the pics. The Hamilton high grade 19 jewel movement is running strong and keeping good time. The watch comes with an authentic leather strap that is similar to what the original strap would be. Like many Hamiltons of the era, most are a presentation watch and usually has an engraving on the back. In fact, the Gordon, being the most expensive watch, was not well received by the general public and Hamilton marketed them to big businesses for high-end presentations. This is the second one we've been able to find without an engraving. I just sold another one very similar under sold watches - Very rare. By the way, the Gordon is my person favorite Hamilton. It somehow is understated but affirms class and wealth at the same time.
