SOLD - Fantastic Vintage 1941 Gold Filled Deco Hamilton Men's Watch with Black Dial Caliber 987-F
Wow, this case is awesome; it's not just awesome, but very hard to find. It's a Wadsworth case that apparently they applied for a patent on in 1927; however, never used the design until the early 40's - perhaps there was some production in the 30's as well, but the piece is scarce so I've not found proof of that yet. Speaking of the case, it's pure yellow gold filled high polish in near mint condition with virtually no wear. The pitch black dial makes this watch pop including the solid 18k gold applied indices and cathedral style hands. It's powered by one of Hamilton's most reliable manual wind movements, the 17 Jewel 987-F. The watch is presented on a new black leather strap with gold-tone buckle. It's a larger watch for the period, measuring at 29mm across without the crown and 35mm from lug to lug. But make no mistake, this watch is perfectly balanced, a true dress watch and works for gentleman of all sizes (strap is a regular size). Overall, we love this watch. It reminds us of the The Great Gabsty era which fits right into the patent date application of the most fabulously deco case. Thank you for looking.
