This is an extremely rare Gallet (Racine, which is a brand of Gallet) all original and very well made. There are several types of vintage braille watches, most were pocket watches; however, the need for braille watches, although a niche, has never really stopped. There are very few manufacturers that made them due to the tiny market they serve. Gallet Racine is particularly rare with very few examples found on the market. Most were also gold filled or plated or two-tone. This example has a stainless steel snap on case back with base metal case body. The watch is in excellent condition with the only noted issue is light brassing near the hinge. This is extremely common and should be noted that the hinge was not chromed originally so it operates correctly. Speaking of the hinge, it is working perfectly with no issues and a correctly tight fit as it was when originally sold. The dial is a beautiful bright white porcelain dial with 4 major raised indices. The watch can be worn by the blind or people that have no vision problems at all. The crystal and bezel flip open for those who know braille to read the time. The watch is entirely original and was just serviced and working great at -/+10 sec per day. The watch is presented on a dark royal blue vintage strap and appears it may have been original to the watch but is not guaranteed to be so. It is made in the same time period and is in excellent wearable condition. Finally, the watch is executed using a Gallet 15j manual wind movement and fits nicely in the 35mm case (suitable for a man or woman). These are very rare, please don't wait as we've priced the watch to sell quickly since we got a good deal.
