We are pleased to present this very rare Audemars Piguet Vintage Royal Oak ref. 1280 (junior or ladies size 29mm / 32mm w/crown) with an automatic no-date movement AP calibre 1241. This is a very highly decorated movement, with 24 jewels, adjusted in 5 positions, adjusted for temperature. 24k gold rotor cuff for efficient winding. Based on the serial number of the automatic movement 194375, this movement dates to the early to mid-1970's. The case and original bracelet are made of stainless steel and 18k gold. This watch is one of the original two-tone watches made in the 70's and belongs in the "B" series (a fairly low number) - making it extremely desirable. The watch is in excellent vintage condition and all components are original to the watch. When the watch was serviced by AP per original owner, the watch case was also finished. (no receipt, box or papers.) The bracelet is in outstanding condition for its age. The original dial is an iconic gray tapestry dial and indices and hands all showing great patina. The dial does have some slight natural wear to it as shown in the pictures; this occurs with exposure to sunlight and demonstrates that the watch was definitely worn many times by the original owner; I think it also gives some extra character to the piece. A genius screw-down system supports the three piece case with white gold screws. The case back nicely shows the Royal Oak engraving still with its black inlay. Overall, this is an awesome rare find that would work for a man or a woman. The older gentleman I bought this watch from (original owner) said the jewelers marketed the watch for a slender man or a woman who doesn't mind a larger watch for the period; he remembered considering it for himself but decided on a 36mm and this for his wife. I wore this watch for a day and can say with a 7.5" wrist, it is the smallest size I would go. If you are a slender man, you will have very little issue with the size. The bracelet can accommodate up to 8" wrist. Either way, this watch is stunning and just holding it is an honor.
