Up for sale in beautiful condition is a gents vintage solid 18k yellow gold Hamilton "Gordon" model wristwatch from the 1940's. The Hamilton Gordon is one of the rarest Hamilton Watches produced; as Hamilton manufactured watches in 18k gold cases in very small numbers. The second observation which makes this particular Gordon more desirable than others is the use of the 982 M, Hamilton's best and most expensive movement. Other earlier models of the Gordon did not have this movement and many collectors hold out to try to find one with the 982 M; and even better the full medallion like this one. This is why you will find some price variant in market value. The solid 18k gold Hamilton case which measures 37mm lug to lug and 22mm wide not counting the crown is in nice condition showing very light use. The dial is in excellent condition with my opinion that it is the original finish on the dial and case. Case-back does have superficial scratches that could be easily polished away - please note the picture amplifies this and it's not nearly as bad as it appears. These are very high-resolution pictures I use. The 18k gold applied markers are perfect. The Hamilton tu-tone dial looks in near perfect original condition as you can see from the pics. The Hamilton high grade 19 jewel movement is running strong and keeping good time. The watch comes with a new lizard flat replacement strap. Like many Hamiltons of the era, especially this watch, most are a presentation watch and usually has an engraving on the back. In fact, the Gordon, being the most expensive watch, was not well received by the general public and Hamilton marketed them to big businesses for high-end presentations. I've never seen one of these not engraved other than one I sold a while back. This one is obviously engraved, but the bonus, and it's a nice one, you get the original box and instructions - very rare. I just sold another one very similar under sold watches - Very rare. By the way, the Gordon is my person favorite Hamilton. It somehow is understated but affirms class and wealth at the same time. Also, I'm not sure how many people noticed this, but this original Hamilton crystal is designed to make 4-5 different color shades in different lighting settings. You can notice if you study my pictures. It's rumored that the company intended this but it was never confirmed.
