Very Rare Vintage 1970s Tissot Seastar Visodate Square Automatic with the rare case Tissot Cal. 784
Marketed as completely waterproof, this fully stainless steel Tissot Seastar is one rare bird. Although the line of Seastars is fairly common; this black dial late model square one is not common. First, there is a major case innovation here I would like to point out. Draw your attention to the side pictures and you will see the case-back slides in and actually locks in. Watchmakers need a special tool to remove it. It's too bad I couldn't take pictures of the movement when my watchmaker had it opened. But I did get a good look at the guts, and the case and movement are in excellent condition with all the correct markings. I've never seen this case type before - this is a Tissot design and very tough to find. This is a visodate model which gives you the date at 6 o'clock. It is a nice sized watch at 30mm square, large for the era but normal now. This watch has its original crystal (a few light scuffs), the black dial is perfect, original signed crown and original sword hands. The watch is presented on a replacement new padded matte black genuine leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle. It is also to be noted that this watch was offered in solid gold, unusual for Tissot, signaling an important piece.
