This is a military version of the 165.002 which came is a variety of dials and configurations. This one happened to be incredible rare with only a few examples known on the market. Notice the the original stick hands with most of the lume present; and the original seconds hand which is supposed to be lumed (this one is) but other few examples that exist had been replaced with standard white seconds hand. The dial, being original, is extremely well preserved. This watch comes on its original steel Omega bracelet. The crown and crystal are also original; the case finish appears unpolished. You do not come across this opportunity often; this is one of the rarest watches we've ever procured. The watch is powered by the Omega calibre 550, 17 jeweled - known to be a real workhorse and reliable movement. The watch was overhauled and keeping good time. Comes with Omega watch case that was with it when precured. I believe the watch may be new old stock.

You may find examples of this watch calling it a "Ranchero" or a "Railmaster"; but this one it is not. The Ranchero was marked as such and in production for two years 1957-1958 and used a manual wind movement; right before the launch of the Calibre 550. This watch is sometimes referred to as the "Explorer" Omega...but the bottom line is that this is an extremely rare version that demands high prices and will continue to appreciate. Hodinkee sold a similar piece here: https://shop.hodinkee.com/collections/sold-watches/products/1950s-omega-seamaster-with-very-rare-dial?variant=16917565380
Although, in doing my research, this appears to be a variation of the Ranchero that Hodinkee sold. If you look at the variations made; their reasoning for not being a Ranchero does not quite add up. http://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf.forumpost/fi-677/ti-965913/pi-6723988/
Nevertheless, you are looking at the rarest version of any vintage Seamaster out there. Best of luck this one should move fast. Price is firm and guaranteed to be authentic.
