Incredible and designed by Gerald Genta, is one word to describe this impressive vintage Universal Geneve watches. At approximately 35M not including the crown, this watch is heavy and substantial for a vintage piece. The hooded lugs and screw down case back make this model extremely rare. I've never seen another like it. The caliber 218-2 is an important movement and one of the first automatic micro-rotor movements made in watchmaking history. Unlike, most automatics with a full rotor attached to the top of the movement, the micro-rotor is incorporated into the movement and allows for a magnificent unobstructed view of the caliber 218-2. Rare and unusual, this beefy masterpiece of historic importance is appropriate for any attire and is a serious watch for the collector. This vintage Universal Genève comes on a black crocodile strap with the original Universal signed gold tang buckle. This watch was completely overhauled by our watchmaker. Please note that the movement picture was prior to the overhaul. I believe this watch represents the "market test" for the famous dials marked Polarouter - and there are few to none I've ever seen in 18k. All the proper hallmarks are on the reverse of the caseback. My watchmaker really tightened the case; and being 18k, a soft precious metal, I'm not risking opening it again; especially since I know new gaskets were installed. Thank you.
