SOLD - Jaeger-LeCoultre Very Rare WWII Military Watch Original Dial Cal. P478
This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought after military watches from WWII. This watch has it's original black dial in excellent vintage condition, original case and case back and on a period vintage strap in good condition. The black dial version of this watch is much more rare than the white/cream dial. The metal is base metal and as noted in the pictures, there is some light corrosion on the original case chrome/radium plating over the base metal. If even found anywhere else, many of these have been re-chromed to look new again - this one is still factory original. Although it cannot be considered near mint because of the light corrosion, the case is otherwise in excellent condition with very little wear. Based on some of the slight wear points; it is likely this watch was actually used in a military capacity during WWII. The few others we found on the market had refinished cases which from a collector standpoint will reduce the value significantly. The in house Jaeger-LeCoultre Caiber P478 is in excellent condition and was recently overhauled and ready to wear or collect. The watch measures approximately 34mm in diameter - a larger size for WWII military watches. Guaranteed Authentic.
