Straight out of the 1970s is a beautifully rare and original LeCoultre Memovox date HPG. These are extremely tough to find. The 1960s and 1970s brought about some very unique case designs - and even LeCoultre got a little crazy. Out of all the the designs, this elongated cushion style case is by far the most attractive.
HPG stands for "High Precision Guarantee" ; It was around this time that LeCoultre launched their new caliber 916 which was an in-house bi-directional automatic alarm caliber running at 28,800 beats per hour instead of the 18,000 beats per hour that previous memovox watches ran at. Making this new caliber higher precision than any previous. In fact, this caliber has proven to be very successful and still used today with some modifications. The caliber 916 is regarded at the highest grade alarm caliber ever produced - and aside from LeCoultre's newer iterations of the movement, it still is the best money can buy in the alarm category.
Our example is near mint, appears hardly ever used and is executed with a stunning silver, blue and red dial - original to the watch. A full stainless steel case with brushed and polished surfaces round out the watch's appeal and a sturdy screw down case back. This watch measures approximately 36MM across and 42MM from lug to lug.
Just overhauled and working perfectly, this alarm watch is ready to wear or include in your collection. Included with the sale is a black leather strap with stainless steel deployment buckle.
