All Around Stunning Illinois Bunn Special Railroad Pocket Watch ca. 1923 Beautiful Deco Style Case 21 Jewels
This is one of the nicest Bunn Special official railroad pocket watches we've seen in a while. The very clean and crist porcelain double sunk dial is near mint with no cracks, hairlines or chipping noted. Very nice traditional railroad approved dial with bold black arabic numerals. At nearly 100 years old, the movement is in pristine condition, we showed a couple pictures...one from the light box and one in natural light. You'll notice how brilliant the decoration is. I've always loved the classic Bunn decoration, this one shows it off nicely. The extra nice yellow gold filled Keystone case has an excellent original factory engraving; it has never been personally engraved and is in excellent condition. The case employs a peaked bail, a nice discreet art deco element. We also see a special crown setup, with the primary function of beefing up the crown, making it much less likely to break if dropped or bumped. The Bunn Special is often considered one of the best made railroad pocket watches. That doesn't surprise us since Illinois was a premium American brand that tended to exceed the expectation of its clients. The Bunn Special is a 21 jewel movement, highly decorated, adjusted 6 times, lever set...anyway it has it all. You'll love this Bunn Special. This watch has been serviced by us during intake - service date June 2019.
