Gorgeous Hamilton Beldon CLD Watch in Excellent Original Condition Vintage 1951
FINAL SALE - Made for five years from 1951 through 1955, the Beldon is a part of Hamilton's CLD ("sealed") lineup of watches. The CLD line of watches came with a series of gaskets that were designed to keep moisture and dust out of the case and were marketed as "weatherproof". This line predates the "waterproof" watches that were introduced by Hamilton in the late 1950's. This particular Beldon features an American made 747 caliber manual mind movement with 17 jewels. The two tone silver and white dial has very light patina. The painted minute track, sub seconds track, Hamilton logo, and CLD branding are excellent. The crown is slightly "wobbly" as the gasket that is normally in place has long ago disintegrated. The crown is still secure and winds and sets the watch as normal. Note: This watch is NOT waterproof, or even water resistant. The 747 manual wind movement was serviced December 2018 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 11 seconds per day. Case - Hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case. There is no visible plate wear, but some light scratching consistent with age.
Lugs - No visible wear on the lugs, including on the tips. The lugs holes are drilled, making strap changes a breeze.
Crown - Original capped crown - the cap has some play, but should have many more years before a replacement is needed
Crystal - Flat top acrylic crystal polished clean and clear; original sone tiny chips on edge crown side
Hands - original. Light patina.
Dial - Original silver and white two tone dial with 18k applied gold numerals and very light patina. Paint on the dial is in excellent condition.
Band - Brand new, unworn brown croc print leather strap with gold tone buckle.
Movement - American made Hamilton caliber 747, manual wind, 17 jewels. Fully serviced December 2018. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
