SOLD - Rare Elgin WWII Era ca.1943-1944 Official Issue Military Watch Type A.F.U.S. Army A-11 Pilot's Watch
This watch is an excellent original version of the A.F.U.S. ARMY TYPE A-11 Manual Wind Caliber 539 with 16 Jewels and sought after fired blue/purple winding wheels by Elgin. The watch has a working hacking feature and was serviced October 2018. This watch, having a hacking feature, is made for pilots and/or maritime use. As with almost all A-11's the case has a stainless steel back and base metal body. The bezel is excellent, moderate brassing is noted on each side of the watch, and the original crown is completely exposed brass; wow, this watch must have had a lot of service time. The watch is presented as found, on a vintage military type NATO style strap. This is an excellent example with a near perfect original dial and hands; a completely unmolested watch. Keeping great time and ready to wear and/or collect.
