Excellent rare Pontos, Amisos - very well struck with a pleasing olive patina on the fields. Amisos lies within the region referred to by Greeks as the Pontos; the northeast portion of Turkey adjacent to the Black Sea. This coin is a classic ancient Greek coin of Pontos, Amisos 100-85 BC. The obverse of the coin features a bust of a young Ares, God of War, wearing a crested helmet.
