Excellent Example and Rarer Solid 14k Yellow Gold Elgin Deluxe Rare Apex Case Vintage 1946
Here is a great all original example of a post WWII solid 14k yellow gold Elgin De Luxe with its original box. The yellow gold alloy used shows some red patina, making the case very attractive. The case in an uncommon Apex gold case. The Elgin USA made caliber 558 is a 17 jewel workhorse that has been proven to be one of the most reliable Elgin movement for tank style watches like this one. In fact, it is said that, so little service requests were coming for the cal. 558, that Elgin made this caliber one of their highest production movements. This also makes repairs and parts in the future easy to find. It's my opinion that the dial is exquisite and it has never been refinished. This watch is an estate piece; working great when curated, nevertheless the watch was serviced by us October 2018 to ensure clean fresh oils. The watch is presented with its original box and medium worn vintage strap; it is unknown if the strap is original. A real handsome watch, this piece would make a great gift or personal purchase.
