Extreme Rarity 14k Solid Yellow Gold Elgin Original Silver Dial, Strap and 14k Solid Gold Buckle
This is an amazing and rare Elgin from the Art Deco period ca. 1925. Described as the cut-corner case Art Deco Elgin in the complete book at watches, it lists this watch was available in 14k gold filled. Upon further investigation, this watch was available in 14k solid yellow gold only upon a jewelers request; this information came from the catalogue in 1925. I do not own this catalogue; however, a watchmaker that I do business with has every Elgin catalogue due to a 140 years of family business. Anyhow, this information was written in black ink (aged) and not printed in the catalogue. We both agree that it was only available as a special order. In 20 years, I have never seen this watch in it's solid gold case version, obviously and proven to be authentic based on the case information and the fact that there is no other Elgin with this exact dimensions and style.
