Vintage ca. 1960's Dorset Swiss Dive Watch With 24 Hour Dial Rotating Bezel
Dorset may not have been the Patek Philippe of watches; but, you have to hand it to them in the design department. They always seemed to have wonderful dials, also as seen in another Dorset watch for sale on our site. Dorset was a watch brand of Montgomery Ward department store. Interestingly enough, most Dorset's used a Japanese movement by UT, however, here we see a lesser seen example of a Swiss 7 jewel manual wind movement with shock protection. Now, you might say...com'on Adam, a 7 jewel movement? Well, we just serviced this watch and it's keeping modern chronometer specs with little adjustments. So, there you have it. The dia uses wonderful use of color space. Black and gold, with a red date complication, red indices for the main chapter ring, a baby blue 24 hour inner chapter ring adorns the dial. The bezel is smooth rotating and in excellent condition. Almost all the chrome has been worn or dissipated with age, to the point that the case is nearly all brass except for the stainless caseback. A good polish and brush polish, would make this case look like it was made to be brass. Overall, this is an attractive and budget friendly Swiss dive watch, that is reliable, keeps excellent time and is in a condition that you can have some fun with the case and nearly everything else is very well preserved.
