Rare Two Tone Ebel 1911 Chronograph with the Infamous Zenith El Primero Movement
Not often seen in this combo of stainless steel and yellow gold with a gloss pitch black dial, this Ebel 1911 Chronograph from the 1990's is a very high end piece with one of the best chronograph movements in the world...and I don't believe Zenith gives them away much anymore. Pieces like these are not only beautiful, classic, and wearable; but also great investment pieces that I predict will become icons and appreciate in price quickly like we've seen with other chronographs lately. This watch is near mint and just overhauled; it is currently keeping better than chronometer specs; not unusual for the El Primero movement running at a high precision beat. The dial is amazing looking with its super gloss backdrop and bold gold indices; and check out that classic Ebel bezel. This Ebel is a must for any person that is putting together a serious and important chronograph collection. It's also a perfect piece for the person just looking for a fantastic all around luxury automatic chronograph watch, oh and did I mention, the El Primero has this awesome story behind it. It's what makes the piece so special to me and many others. This is one of the pieces with some of the first produced El Primero movements. If my memory serves me correctly, Zenith needed to sell this movement to other firms to stay afloat and raise money as they reestablished themselves after the quartz crisis, and I don't think they sell them anymore. If you don't know the infamous story of the El Primero's survival, just google it or look through my blogs, I'm sure I did a blog about it at some point, It's my favorite Swiss watch story.
