Tissot Seastar Seven Automatic ca. 1965 with a Yellow Gold Fill Bezel and Stainless Steel Caseback
The Tissot Seastar Seven uses the calibre Tissot 783-1 movement. which is a very high end 21 jewel, Incabloc, excenter regulator and unique stem system. The stem is not detachable as common for such cases. The dial is only pushed on and therefore can be removed to unlock the stem. This is truly original, as the movement has neither dial screws nor the threads for them. Another Tissot innovation that has gone unnoticed. In fact, many vintage dealers, and the community in general has now accepted that Tissot made high quality vintage watches, The Seastar Seven is no exception. This watch has a very attractive and handsome sunburst silver dial - it's very nice compared to others. There are very few to no blemishes on the dial. The original crystal has some superficial scratches typical of a well cared for vintage watch. The gold is in great shape, showing no signs of brassing, the case back is well inscribed suggesting again, a well cared for watch. As you can probably tell by now, this is an estate piece, the family was having such a hard time selling this watch because it was his favorite watch, I begged them to keep it, seriously.
Anyway they sold it to me along with some other goods. Sometimes I wonder why people will part with a man's favorite watch, I just don't get it, you would be surprised how fast people sell the "watch". Well Let me state this for the record, my kids get my watches and they better not sell them, or I will crawl out of the grave and get them back, I'm sure that won't be pretty, so don't do it. But, that is besides the point, I'm sure the original owner would be happy to have it go to someone who will love and care for it as he did. Here is what you need to know about this watch, we just serviced it February 2019, the calibre Tissot 783-1 is high grade and well respected among horologists, the watch is all original, has good provenance and was very well cared for. This watch is 34mm in diameter not including the original crown, 18mm between the lugs, great calatrava style looks and a thin profile. This watch is great not just for a collector, but also an excellent choice for professional or formal attire at an extremely good value & quality combo for a Swiss automatic beauty. An added bonus is to expect appreciation as the vintage market continues to expand; but also the beauty of the tritium dial will continue age to pleasing cream colors where any tritium is (lumination).
