Rockford 918, a very rare Railroad Grade pocket watch with only 3100 made. 21J and size 18s ca. 1908
What a stunning Rockford railroad grade watch grade 918 with only 3,100 made. These only come up on the market once in a great while, I think it's been at least 5 years since I've seen another. The movement is absolutely beautiful and is very difficult to capture the full beauty in the photographs. Let's just say you will be shocked by the quality of craftsmanship and decoration. The dial is double sunk, the jewels are gold set and screwed in, micro adjustment, full plate, and adj. in 5 positions...and more. The watch was just serviced and running very well and keeping great time. The condition is as follows; the dial has a hairline crack from where the hands stem comes out of the dial to the subdial. This is one of two hairlines and the more visible one. There is another hairline that is much more faint that starts around below 12 and goes down to the first sunken dial. Overall, the dial is in good condition, there none of the more profound blemishes; and the hairlines are not drawn to the eye; it's my opinion that they are not significant; however, the price reflects the hairlines on the dial. A perfect example would cost much more. The case is in overall good condition, showing wear but very little to no brassing. The movement swings out with the crown pulled up, which is a very nice feature. Don't let this 918 go, they are very hard to find. This one is an excellent example to add to any serious collection or to start a collection. These pocket watches also make great gifts.
