At the beginning of modern watchmaking is Jaeger-LeCoultre, the esteemed watch firm created and built by Antoine LeCoultre, whose tireless commitment to quality and innovation launched the advancement of fine timepieces as we know them. As a true 'manufacture' of timepieces, Jaeger-LeCoultre, perhaps more than any other watchmaker, sets the standard for luxury watchmaking.
The company's workmanship is so respected that other esteemed Swiss watchmakers such as Patek Philippe used Jaeger-LeCoultre movements to power some of their finest pieces. In vintage times, as lifestyle paces moved faster and faster, top Swiss firms needed a way to enhance the experiences of their now frequently traveling top clients. The renowned engineers at Jaeger-LeCoultre rose to the occasion by creating the alarm wristwatch in 1951.
This extraordinary wristwatch features a fully mechanical alarm system that its owner could use to better organize and govern his most precious possession - his time. To pull off this technological marvel, Jaeger-LeCoultre equipped these watches with significant inner alarm gearing and even an additional stem and crown, making many elements of second movement that worked seamlessly in conjunction with the normal timing portion.
This excellent vintage 1950s Jaeger-LeCoultre wristwatch featured here is a very nice original example of one of these important pieces. The full size gold filled case is in good condition. The classic white, silver and blue alarm dial is attractive and original unrefinished - note some discoloration on the dial as shown in the pictures (we've significantly marked down the price due to this - however, it is not really that distracting in person). The original, Jaeger-LeCoultre alarm movement is clean and running strong. The piece is in very good condition.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox is perhaps one the most memorable achievements of its period. This near mint Swiss Made manual wind watch incorporates a mechanical alarm function that can be set from a separate crown by rotating the inner disk of the dial. This wonder of horology is in near mint condition and is keeping excellent time. The case is in 10k Gold Filled and measures approximately 35MM (not including the original signed crowns). The alarm is an important and relevant function rarely found in a mechanical watch; making this watch a rare find that is perfect for any occasion. The watch comes on a new black alligator grain leather Hadley-Roma strap with a matching gold toned tank buckle. (18MM between lugs)
The K814 differs from the more common caliber 814 by incorporating shock absorption into the movement; resulting in less chance of needing service should the watch be subject to a shock (such as dropping the watch).
This stunning piece will go well with any casual, business or fine dress attire. The price point of this watch is just as attractive as the watch itself. Expect to pay 3-4 times for a new Memovox. This piece is not engraved like most vintage watches are. Make it your own - we will have it shipped safely to you in no time at all.
