Nidava was always referred to as Nivada Grenchen because they were located in Grenchen Switzerland. The company, no longer making watches, has it's root back in watchmaking since they opened in 1879. Nivada was known to make some of the greatest sports watches; unfortunately they succumbed to the quartz crisis as many did that did not get into the quartz business. Nevertheless, they left behind treasures like this Aquamar that was make for all sorts of water sporting. It has a stunning dial with great even patina, all original of course...and they used colors that really make the watch attractive. In my opinion, this is one of the most undervalued of the Nivada models because there really isn's a lot of them out there. And it's hard to create a cult following of a watch when there isn't many of them to sell. The first came suited with a manual wind ETA manual wind and then shortly after, realized the case is suitable to use an ETA automatic. It's quite tough to find the manual wind pieces. This one is in great shape, vintage late 1960's. There is expected wear on the watch, and the owner did wear this watch frequently (I can tell by the brassing on the underside of the case. But overall, the things that matter like the original bezel, signed crown and dial are all in great overall condition. This watch comes on a matte leather black strap and is ready to wear or collect.
