What is a Marriage Watch? Well, it doesn't mean it has anything to do with you or anyone else getting married; although it does make a fantastic gift for this purpose. So what is it? A Marriage Watch is a special term to describe the fusion (or marriage) of modern high quality case materials with antique or vintage movements - usually pocket watch movements. Although some purists may frown upon them as not being "real" watches, last time I checked, they tell the time quite well. They are typically not branded and are professionally made by watchmakers with an artistic flair. Some watchmakers go as far as branding these, and producing amazing works of art such as Jochen Benzinger Watches. I myself, happen to love the concept. For more than 40 years now, pocket watches have been getting scraped for their gold or silver content, leaving the movement without a home or purpose. Surprisingly, some of these movements are of extremely high grade and would cost thousands of dollars to manufacture them today. Some are so high grade, that they can be railroad certified, ultra-thins or calibers from Patek or Vacheron. When I see a Marriage watch, I see a new purpose to these fine machines instead of letting them rot in a box or landfill. Since I love American made calibers, I tend to focus on those, and that is what I primarily have for sale. Be cautious, not ever Marriage watch is alike. We source only the highest quality at a reasonable price; while most others, especially from sellers outside the US, do a horrific job at both fit and finish not to even mention sub-par case materials. Be assured, our Marriage Watches are made with high quality case materials, fit the caliber perfectly and the movements have been overhauled to perform as if they were new.
